BIOLOGY TEACHER (1995-PRESENT)
International School of the Americas, NEISD, San Antonio, Texas
- Belonged to a highly motivated faculty in a small, choice
public school which focused on non-traditional curricula, courses, and
creative ways of thinking.
- Taught heterogeneously grouped students who were chosen
by a lottery system.
- Worked on design team to plan second, third and fourth
years of I.S.A., including student internships with corporate partners,
Valero Energy Corporation and Southwestern Bell, and foreign exchange programs.
- Led 120 students and core team of teachers in an outdoor
classroom project.
- Advised, co-sponsored the Academic Decathlon Team.
- •Facilitated discussion on curriculum alignment, scope
and sequence of science curriculum (6-12) to the American School in Monterrey,
Mexico (our sister school).

- Supervised and advised graduate student interns.
- Taught a one hour undergraduate practicum course, the

SCIENCE TEACHER (1993-1995) Southwest Enrichment
Center, SWISD, San Antonio, Texas
- Taught at-risk sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students
science and elective studies, targeting self esteem, hands on learning,
and improved TAAS scores.
- Co-authored successful grant for an outdoor classroom.
- Worked closely with twelve teachers to create, implement,
and evaluate six to twelve week interdisciplinary expeditions throughout
the school year.
- Designed, built, and maintained a
1200 gallon pond with students as an on-going, hands-on ecology project.
INTERN (1992-1993) Mark Twain Middle School, SAISD,
San Antonio, Texas
- Team-taught an interdisciplinary science curriculum to
inner-ciy seventh grade students heterogeneously grouped.
- Sponsored Mark Twain Earth Service Corps, YMCA Adopt-a-Grandparent
Programs.
- Taught classes and camped with students at YMCA HY-LYFE
program to increase student self esteem and knowledge of the outdoors.
